media: installation of vinyl wall drawings, video, bed
Making Room (5 nights of sleep)
The content of my self-portrait has changed from the singular to the plural. Making Room (5 nights of sleep) documents our most vulnerable state, revealing unconscious dance maneuvers over 5 nights of slumber. The frantic movements and inherent uneven quality of time-lapse reflect constriction and the cause/effect of sharing space while the outline drawings display the connection and intimacy within.
Installation consisting of projected looping video and 60 drawings. Video consists of time-lapse photographs taken every 1.5 minutes for 5 nights (total video time of 3:30 minutes). Drawings are outlines of each major movement and shown as vinyl pieces and placed on the wall in a grid formation. Due to the nature of the video and the vinyl, the installation can be as small or large as required by venue, with or without the bed. Vinyl is removable and will not damage wall (some spot painting may be required). Drawings can also be shown in an 8" x 10" book (see link below for blurb.com).
